Who Should Study this Course?

This course, commonly referred to as RCG, is aimed at people wishing to work in licensed gaming venues at registered clubs and hotels in NSW. Students will learn how to minimise harm from gambling, using discretion, judgement and teamwork as well as develop a positive attitude to the responsible conduct of gambling in the hospitality industry. Employees associated with gambling activities in registered clubs and hotels are required to undertake this course under the NSW Gaming Machines Regulations.

The course is delivered at Unique International College’s Granville campus, located in Sydney Australia, which is situated close to public transport and shops. Alternatively, the course may be conducted on-site at your venue. Please contact us if you wish for the course to be conducted at your venue.

Career Opportunities

On completion of this qualification, candidates may choose to undertake the SITHFAB009A Provide responsible service of alcohol (commonly referred to as RSA) to increase their employment opportunities. Alternatively, candidates may elect to complete the SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality qualification. Graduates will also be eligible for employment in customer contact positions relating to gambling services within registered venues in NSW.

Entry requirements

There are no prerequisite academic or work experience requirements for this course.

The NSW Liquor and Gaming Regulation requires students to be 18 years of age or older if they are working in a position that involves the service of alcohol and/or gaming operations. This however does not exclude persons under the age of 18 years to undertake this course.

Accreditation

Unique International College is accredited by the Australian Skills and Quality Authority and the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing.

On successful completion of this course, graduates will receive:

  • Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment in SITHGAM006A Provide responsible gambling services which is part of the SIT07 – Tourism, Hospitality and Events training package.
  • NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing Interim Certificate. The Interim Certificate is used to obtain the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing Photo Card.

 

Course Duration

This course is delivered in 1 day, comprising of 6 hours delivery and a 1 hour break. Classes commence at 8am and conclude at 3pm.

  • Students are required to arrive 15 minutes prior to course start time for registration and induction.
  • Timetables are subject to change and may be cancelled if there are an insufficient number of students enrolled in the program. If this is the case, you will be provided with a refund or offered an alternative date to complete the course.

Equipment and Materials

All students will be provided with required equipment and materials including the student workbook, which is part of the tuition fees.

Teaching Methods

The program is delivered at our college premises via face to face trainer led theory classes. Delivery of training is through the use of lectures, presentations by industry experts, group activities, pair work, demonstrations and class presentations. Training can also be conducted at your venue. Please contact us if you wish for Unique International College to conduct this course at your venue.

Resources

Unique International College is fully equipped with a computer lab, where students have access to networked computers with internet access and the Microsoft Office 2007 package, as well as access to printers and photocopiers. Printing and photocopying is charged at 40 cents per page. Unique International College training rooms are well equipped with modern audio-visual facilities, including TV’s, VCR’s and data projectors.

Uniform

Students are required to wear smart attire and inclosed shoes at all times while attending the college.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is summative (competency determined immediately after session delivery). Assessments may include, but are not limited to demonstrations, knowledge tests, interviews, and presentations.

To satisfactorily complete the program, student must:

  • Obtain 100% attendance
  • Obtain a satisfactory result in Task 1 (Role play) and Task 2 (Knowledge Test)
  • Actively contribute in all discussions and activities

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

  • There is no RPL available for this course.

Student support services

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N) support will be provided in all subjects as part of the normal tuition and assessment activities. The college will organise additional LL&N support if required on a fee-per-service basis.
